Of Man And Beast…

When tainted thoughts

Shadow the mind

The eye of reason

Is rendered blind

When the darkness

Rules over the light

The heart retreats

And love subsides

When anger ignites

The flames of wrath

The hands of rage

Will pave the path

When hate becomes

Man’s only drive

His inner Beast

Will roam outside

I like what you did with the picture. I had never thought of the centaur as strikingly or explicitly ‘man and his beast’

  2. Your poems reflect much wisdom.. Mankind is at this moment reflecting back much he has carried inside for so long.. His thoughts of Anger, hatred, Fear.. The Dark side of his thoughts is at last becoming the ‘Beast’ .. Only when we control our inner thoughts and find that Peace within do we at last control the beast within, and thus control the Beast who will roam outside..
You have some wonderful poetry here.. and I am pleased to have found your Page once again. Dreamwalker

  3. There are some rare moments in life when the light rules over darkness…too rare though…

Interesting poem. Paints a whole new side of you. Is it possible to write without it revealing pieces of us? hugs, pat

You speak the truth, you lovely poet.

  28. i can’t help but think of Freud’s theory of id, ego and superego here. When push comes to shove the id always suffices above the rest because we are, in essence, instinctive before all else.
