The Eternal Questioning…

If there’s No

God

Would there be No

Devil

Would Man be Free

No Hell

Or Heaven

Would Life cease to be

An utter state

Of Confusion

Would Death simply be

The Absolute

Conclusion

Very smart and thought-provoking. I especially love the ending… I guess, we’ll never find out the answers to these questions, maybe…

  2. Hmmm…I don’t really want to find out just yet…a verse to ponder!

  3. Jamie Dedes says:

… or not. How would you define God?

Nice work as always, Sam. Thanks again for the interview. Hope you like the way it turned out.

    Happy days …

    • Pat Cegan says:

I loved the interview! Nice to know more about you, Samer. And, Jamie, your write-up of both Samer and Rebecca was lovely and interesting. Interviewing and writing afterwards is not an easy thing to do, but you did it so well! hugs, pat

    • Sam says:

Jamie, I want to thank you again and again for the interview, I really enjoyed doing it and l appreciate the chance you gave me to let other friends know more about me… 🙂 . As for your question, it is a nice challenge to write about, I will surely do….

  4. Pat Cegan says:

Interesting response to my pondering, Samer. Also interesting is your question about:
    Would Life cease to be

    An utter state

    Of Confusion

I had not considered that the cause of the confusion was our belief in the Divine. Now write one that answers your questions. 🙂
love you! love your writing! hugs, pat

    • Sam says:

Pat, as I always say your ponderings are mind provoking and they do inspire. I love the fact that we can have this poetic dialogue… As for the confusion, well it is not because of the belief in the Divine, it has more to do with the uncertainties of what is there next and whether we are doing it right or wrong…
Again thank you as always for your inspirational Ponderings…
Biggest of hugs and lots of love, Samer.

  5. Dheepikaa says:

Would death simply be an absolute conclusion – what a rhetorical question! Lovely.

  6. seabell says:

I like questions too. Still, I suspect that your poem is rather a statement than a question. Thoughtful!

  7. Mr Blaque says:

That is the question everyone wants to know, heaven or hell. That goes with the saying “damned if you do or damned if you don’t.” Thank you for the enlightenment.

  8. Eternal the questions are indeed, but what if we find the answers on the end? Are we going to be happy with them? Isn’t it better some things to stay mysterious, to give a spice of life? Lovely one Sam, wise and thought provoking!

    • Sam says:

I agree with you Blaga, somethings have to remain hidden, cause it will always keeps us wondering. In wondering lies the creativity… 🙂

  9. K. McGee says:

I LOVE THIS! Brain food found in poetry — so thought provoking. Thanks for the nourishment.

  10. Paul says:

Thought provoking, feels as though there is more for you to say – to finish the statement?
    Good stuff.

  11. Julian Javier the Cyber Mushroom says:

thought provoking. excellent! and it is indeed a fact that religion and dogma is the cause of confusion and division amongst men. instead of uniting for the better good, men fight for their dogma and religion. i love this because i hate religion and dogma. i have nothing against god, allah, jesus, the saints and all that. i just hate the followers. it’s really nice to see literature about similar thoughts that i have in my mind.

  12. wolfsrosebud says:

    I sure hope not…

  13. Dualism has to exist that is what life is all about, the contradictions but then some will argue that we are indeed free but created these ideologies, in turn enslaving ourselves for fear of said freedom. But, I digress 🙂
    I enjoyed the piece, thanks!

    • Sam says:

Well each one of us has a different view, and this wide spectrum of differences make life interesting…. thank you for your comment as always… 🙂

  14. Jingle says:

    keep wondering,
sometimes, things are meant to be open minded.

    Cheers.

  15. Becca Givens says:

I put faith and hope with Divine Light and eternal Life!!

  16. Leo says:

I do not think that even with God, there should be heaven and hell distinction. In our customs and traditions, the departed soul is sent off to the afterlife with music and dance, because we believe there is no hell. Any soul that departs goes to a better life and it should be done with happiness, not sorrow (though death does bring sorrow). I liked your poem, which made me think. Thanks!

  17. Sam says:

Thank you Leo for this perspective, I believe poetry should always work on the mind as well the feelings… 🙂

  18. Fiducia says:

I always had these questions in mind without any answers…your verses were deep and truth of the cycle of life! There is God and these days its said, that there is no hell or heaven beyond life, but here in our lives itself..haven’t you felt those days when sorrow completely bestows your moods, actions, and destiny?? …and then those days when happiness is never rare and you feel that you are the most lucky one on Earth!! That’s Karma, the fruits for your action in this or past life..! God is in existence as a supreme power who drives the forces of our lives and exists in each of us…however, its still a question what would have happened without God …hmm…this verses were simply awe-inspiring !!! Make you ponder about the eternal truth!! beautiful work..:)

    • Sam says:

Thank you for your comment, I love to read other’s perspective and view, it is a pure mental nourishment… thanks again Fiducia.

  19. That is question isn’t it. I lean towards the latter but hey that’s me. You may like my poem Heaven or Hell that puts yet another wrench into the works mentioned here. Great poem.

  20. genebrother says:

    If there were no GOD
Then death could not be the absolute conclusion.
There would be nothing to die.

I enjoyed your thoughtful creative journey

    loved it 😀

  23. Fred says:

Very interesting. I really appreciate how you utilized the Thinker as a springboard for this piece. I am very fond of thought inspiring work as well. Thanks for sharing such a creative expression of internal questioning. 🙂

  24. Paulami says:

you have indeed asked some eternal questions, answers of which just create an abyss of discussion or debate 😛

  25. luna15 says:

Thankfully we do not need to find that out.

  26. Ina says:

We don’t know what is there, beautiful poem 🙂

  27. Andy says:

    Hello Sam.

    This is very thought-provoking.

  28. Wonderfully profound =) I don’t believe in the Devil or God in the paternalistic sense. My sense of “divine” would be like the Tao

  29. poetryroad says:

I always enjoy poems that use each and every word to its full potential…you did this with this thought provoking and interesting poem. Great!

  30. Peggy Nolan says:

I love the waxing philosophical questions! I have no answers 🙂

    Nice job!

  31. D says:

Would Death simply be//The Absolute//Conclusion. I guess so. No matter what happens, no matter how far you’ve gone…the end point would always be death.

  33. yelena m. says:

however much we wish to reach even a little understanding of things you describe, we never know…so imho it’s better to stop asking questions and simply to live, to breathe, to love…thanks for sharing.

  34. danroberson says:

We have so few answers and there are so many questions. You’ve asked some important ones. It all comes down to what you choose to believe. In the meantime, as yelena says, “it’s better to……..and simply live, to breathe, to love….”

  35. I like how simply your poem is presented. I don’t see freedom in atheism, but I enjoyed your phrasing.

  36. ashbeezone says:

Simply impressive with full of creative thoughts and vivid imagination ..
    Here’s mine ..

    Satisfy the Hunger of Success

  37. I loved your poem! To me it evoked the place of where we allow too much conscious thought to over ride the sensory part of us. This is such a common theme in our lives! Too much multi tasking, time management etc, it takes over the sense of peace we need to utilize more of our consciousness resources to fulfill our lives…You conveyed this in poetry very eloquently, especially with the image you presented! I really enjoyed it! Cindy

  38. mkinchlow says:

    Thought provoking…nice work!

  39. Great questions that have passed the lips of millions and will continue to be discussed for many years to come! Great poem!

  40. Bhaga says:

To Sam and anyone else who truly would like to know the real answers to those questions:
Stop asking them with the part of you that cannot know the answers: your Mind, represented so clearly here by that picture of ‘The Thinker’ by Rodin.
Go deep within your own being and discover what is eternal and divine in yourself. It is that deeper Self in you that lives beyond the death of your body. That true Self in each of us knows all the answers, not only to those questions, but to many others too, because it is consciously part of the Oneness of All That Is.
This having been said, bravo for the poem, it was a great one.
    Cheers,
    Bhaga
