A Rose For Life…

She couldn’t be more than nine years of age

Eyes of green and a sun kissed face

Sitting on the pavement with roses by her side

Watching the world go by as the hours slide

She looks in the faces of walkers by

To tell the lover from the lonely guy

If luck prevails she’ll sell a few

Before it’s dark and the night is due

She looks in the distance

Towards the endless sky

The blue in the heavens

Meets the green in her eyes

Faraway there she knows

No roses, ever grow

And if she’s lucky

Maybe today

A lonely angel

Might come her way

He will descend

Upon wings of light

And exchange her roses

For a beautiful life
