Why Promise…

It seems so easy a promise to make

Yet keeping a word is always at stake

Words are found when needed to say

Yet not around come the due day

Forever and always and ever as well

Simple to use and easy to tell

Tomorrow and after and further ahead

May never come for the things you said

Words are wasted when you don’t intend

A promise means nothing comes the end

Love your rhymes! 🙂 We sometimes don’t realize how much our words can mean to somebody. They can give hope, encourage, but also hurt and disappoint if we don’t keep our word in this case…

  4. They say promises are made to be broken, but I don’t agree. That shouldn’t be the case.

I like the rhyming and the flow! Happy New Year! 🙂

Thanks for your comment and Happy New Year to you too. Unfortunately promise most of the times end up to be broken…May be it is human nature…I guess it goes back to Adam and Eve…:-)

  5. Lu Ann says:

Auch! They say that promises are better when they´re left unspoken… I wonder if out there someone can truly stick to their promises, besides God of course.

I think what you wrote is beautiful, and I feel a personal connection to it… I’m curious who broke what promise.

    • Sam says:

      Thank you Jon,
It is somehow related to many aspects in life, work, friendship, relationships, etc…lately it was a work related issue. Too bad promises are always broken.

  7. Promises sincerely meant sometimes and still easily broken.

  9. kyoichi says:

i tend to let go of empty but safe phrases like “maybe” and “later”

in truth, it’s when i say those words that i feel the most apathy towards a given situation.

glad i came up with that after reading this.
